The south of Madagascar is dotted with mausoleums, like this one, where important local people have been buried. I think this is animist, since, looking on the web, I find that some are decorated with zebu horns: the more horns, the more important the corpse. Many have a surrounding wall painted white, with images of things the person inside used to enjoy.
